What are songs that would otherwise be perfect to you if not for some aspect of it?

I’ll start with “The Lottery” by The Afghan Whigs. The song starts so badass, so dark, so promising… until the chorus finally kicks in well into the song. What a shite, disjointed, and disappointing chorus that just ruins what should have been one of the band’s signature songs.

“The Lottery” - The Afghan Whigs

I dunno about "perfect" but I really like the playing on this country-rock remake of "Walk Away Renee"

But the vocal is horrible

I don't mind the verses but I think the huge cymbal crashes and final strings were recorded wrong; they sound over compressed. Just my opinion but I think the song is amazing as is most of that album.

Not a perfect song, but the intro and finish vocals of The Question by The Moody Blues, which bracket a pretty melody, are unbearable.

Glen Cambell trying to hit the high notes in Wichita Lineman.

Trying to hit the high notes in The Wall.

Agreed

To add to the theme of a singer trying to hit a high note that shouldn't have been attempted... Listen to Jackson Brown's "Somebody's Baby".

Great song, but someone else should have sang that song.

Days by Television would have been so much better if Verlaine could sing.

The intro to Starsign is over 1 minute long and just isn't anything we need to hear.

"Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney. Incredible, amazing, beautiful song, until Sir Paul starts falsetto growling.

Rolling Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” if it started when the guitar comes in. That choir part is such a drag.

Avett Brothers have ruined some masterpieces with odd additions, but I get that's part of the charm

If It's The Beaches has a voicemail recording in it

Swept Away (Sentimental) has a female voice that is nails on a chalkboard
