Official page on Showtime
Trailer on YouTube
Watched it last night. Really worthwhile if you're any kind of fan. They have interviews with original members as well as their producer, studio engineer, locals, musicians influenced by them, etc.
Lots of details I've never seen before, from their extremely disciplined rehearsals in the swamp shack starting out, all the way to two crash survivors telling in detail what they remember - paralleled with the local farmer who was first on the scene walking through the site and remembering what he saw.
Really cool to learn the details of how they formed and the serious work they put into the first two albums. It's amazing how quickly they went from playing junior high dances to international touring and platinum records once they got discovered and hooked up with MCA.

My friend's dad was in music production in BR at the time of the crash, and was scheduled to meet them at the Baton Rouge airport when they landed.

Hope you enjoy it. It was kind of like a 30 for 30, where they just went straight to the interviews and old clips without a famous narrator or production gimmicks fluffing it up.

Damn good documentary/movie
Surprised me how Ronnie was into gun control and where a few stood politically.

Agree but if I hear one more bullshite interview with Artimus Pyle saying stupid shite about the crash I'm going to puke. Now he's saying the plane "spiraled in".....the plane went in fairly flat.

Hey the guy ate way too much acid back in the day so we need to cut him some slack
I did LOL when he telling that story of the monkey on roller skates drinking straight from the JD bottle
If you read Turn It Up you'll see he was no stranger to LSD and doing weird shite in his hotel room.

I actually thought it was one of the lesser music docs I've seen in a while. Loved all the old photos and things. Just wasn't bowled over by it at all.

The first clue would have been,
"Mr. Saturday night special
Got a barrel that's blue and cold
Ain't good for nothin'
But put a man six feet in a hole"

Well I've read several books on Skynyrd and they all said that Ronnie in the song was saying that hand guns are only good for killing people. But clearly, in that interview clip he seemed against them all. So I wonder why his brother and others in the books claimed that he just meant hand guns were bad.

I thought it was pretty solid.

For Skynyrd fans there are also two other docs on them on Amazon Prime. One is called, 'Free Bird,'and the other called, 'Gone with the Wind,'is three hours long. Both are also really good! If you have Prime, they are free.

The editing was pretty terrible at times. It seemed to randomly jump around

If you don't like Skynyrd, we can't be friends.

Thanks, I remember when Freebird the movie came out and even had some kinda swag from the release. I'll look for it on Prime.
