Why should I sit out music threads because I didn't care for the one song I've heard from My Bloody Valentine?

Well, I'm sorry I broke up your circle jerk. My bad. I did like the two songs you posted by Lush.

My 27 year old son, who is only now coming around to good music, sent me a Ride song out of the blue last week.
I responded with several tracks, including Lush - For Love. Dig it and them.

MBV, Diiv, Lush, Slowdive
Good work baws
Cocteau Twins is more dream pop but i feel like they helped inspire modern shoegaze.
Saw both diiv and Slowdive 2 years ago. Hope to see mbv if they ever do another US tour one day.

quote:I first started listening to them for their Brit pop stuff, but came around later to the shoegaze. Ladykillers is an all time favorite of mine in any genre. Just so well written and executed. Making fun of Anthony Kiedis and Matt Sharp is just a bonus

I've really tried to like MBV (I have Loveless) but I just can't get into it.
Ride, JaMC, Slowdive, all yes, though.

They straddle the line between dream pop and shoegaze. You can pick and choose examples of both out of their catalog.

Shoegaze is defined by a heavy "wall of sound" built from dense layers of distorted guitars, fuzz, reverse reverb, and pitch bending. Dream pop uses cleaner, shimmering guitars, subtle modulation effects, or synth pads.

Ha, I put that very Curve video in the obscure songs thread a few weeks ago.

My favorite is this banger: has more of an electronic house feel to it so not so much shoegaze but still great
