I turned this on right in time to see Strait and Jackson sing a tribute to Jones and then Zac Brown playing with Dave Grohl. Also, got to hear The Gambler sung. Then I got to see Strait win entertainer of the year. Usually country award shows make me angry but I enjoyed what I saw last night.

Country Music will never be as good as it was in the 60's & 70's. There was still some good in the 80's, but toward the end, except for few artist, the music really started going commercial. Much of the blame imo goes to videos...it wasn't so much about the music anymore, but the show.

I did the same thing. Darius Rucker did a good job on The Gambler.

Zac Brown Band is the best thing happening to country music at the moment and, IMO, the only current group worth listening to. I heard that Grohl is producing their next album or something like that. Being that Grohl is my idol, I love it.

I would agree if we are just limiting the discussion to what is played on Nashville country radio. There is some great stuff out of the mainstream that I have discovered because of this board. Zac Brown does get some hate on here and some lump them in with the rest of modern country crap but i don't get that at all. They are great artists.

"Colder Weather" is a beautiful song and ZBB is great live. I dont even get the hate and I'm kind of a country music snob.

He is. It was cool seeing him perform with them last night. I was visiting my grandparents and my grandmother was watching it. I had to double take when I heard them say, "coming up....Zac Brown band with Dave Grohl!"

I'm not a big fan of most country but Grohl will bring an interesting dynamic to ZBB. I've seen them live before and they KINDA remind me of Cross Canadian Ragweed in that their albums are more mellow and poppy than the live show. Seeing Ragweed was almost like seeing a cover band. They flipped on their rock n' roll switch for the shows. If Dave can take the elements of ZBB's live performances and blend it in when they're in the studio it should be really solid.

Looking forward to it...but it better not be until Foo releases a new album. I have GOT to see them again. They bring it live.
