Damn. STP was my favorite band growing up. I'm surprised he made it this long.
I just posted his cover of "Christmastime is here" on here the other day. I always listen to it around this time of year.

I always thought they were one of the most underrated under appreciated bands ever.

Rest in Peace.

Dude was talented, still made it and was only held back by himself.

They were huge during the Core and Purple years, but their music declined greatly after that.

Not a huge shock. The STP show at the River Center a few years ago was great.

Saw him last summer and he put on a really good show. Those first four STP albums and the first Velvet Revolver album are great.

he was a GREAT front man.
I think the same. To me he was the epitome of a 90's frontman for a large act.
Let's be honest, this isn't shocking to most people except for the fact maybe it didn't happen 15 years sooner.

STP's run through the early to mid 90's was pretty impressive. I've always said, one day we'd look back and think "wow ! what a great band" and " what could have been".

I am actually very saddened by this news. I had tickets to see him next week at Tipitina's...
In recent interviews he seemed more lucent and sober than ever but maybe he had us fooled. I hate to assume it was an OD but I hope we hear the cause in coming weeks. I'd hope hear it was hard livin that caught up to him and his past rather than a new overdose. But that's why it hurts me so much today, I never had a front man or artist that, for one reason or another, I cared so much about.
I always wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and hoped he turned a corner but I felt that constant touring and his sickly look recently had me wondering if a relapse was near.
Sad too because he was talking about future tours with STP and VR in recent interviews and seemed to be out and about on social media more instead of being a hermit.
We'll always have his music. Another one gone too soon...

That whole grunge era during the 90's was awesome. There isn't shite out there right now as far as hard rock or alternative.

Damn
I'm glad I got to see STP once when they were all together in 08. Great band and one of the GOAT frontman. RIP Scott Weiland

Wish I could have seen him perform live.

Yeah, I saw them at this casino out in the desert east of San Diego in 09. You could tell most of them completely going through the motions in front of spread out crowd outside of maybe 500 or so people. But Scott was on, had megaphone out for Crackerman and everything,he still had it

He was a better singer than his records tell. When he was on, his voice live was much more.

I was fortunate enough to see them on that tour as well here at Red Rocks.
RIP

And yeah, the first three STP albums are classics, but everything else he did was utter garbage.
