However, the farther you go out from that, the overall quality of Isbell albums decline. Something More Than Free was good, Nashville Sound was ok, Reunions was just not good at all to me.
Generally agree.
1. Southeastern
2. Sirens of The Ditch
3. Here We Rest
4. Something More than Free
5. Reunions
6. The Nashville Sound
7. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit

Cooley is superior to both. "Women Without Whiskey" "Zip City" "Where the Devil Don't Stay"

His best song is “When the Pin Hits the Shell”

Put your hate for isbell’s wokeness aside. He has a very strong voice. Go listen to cover me up and then try to sing the chorus.

Lmao. He defaults to a shaky shitty sounding alto when he tries to hit anything high. Very strong voice my arse.

I listened to "Be Afraid" and punched the button after about 30 seconds.

Could we hear some of your singing?

two totally different musicians in my opinion. I like em both, for different reasons. For me both set a different mood, and yes, Mescalito is a great album. SOtD and Southeastern also great albums from Isbell. Toss up if this a bandstand contest.

I imagine if nobody knew of Isbell's political leanings, he would win this debate in a landslide.

Mescalito and Southeastern would both be “desert island” albums for me

Maybe
But I think you could make a strong argument that Bingham is a much more fun/interesting artist to listen to across the board than Isbell. I've never gotten off work on Friday and wanted to jam some Jason Isbell with my windows down.

Exactly. If I could only listen to 1 of the 2's music it would be Bingham. I like a lot of Isbell's tunes, but the sappy crooner shite gets old. Bingham jams. It has nothing to do with politics. They're both communists.

Evan Felker and John Moreland are better than both

Isbell and it’s not close. Southeastern is possibly the best record of the entire 2010’s. Everything since is just as amazing.
