the song "chains of love" off of ashes and fire just came on pandora, and it reminded me of how much Ryan Adams' prolificacy gets in the way of his genius. what a stupid song. but i've seen him live in his sober state and was blown away.
i think this is a pretty typical opinion of him, but wanted to see what you guys think (probably been discussed but i searched, and haven't posted in music board until recently).

I put Heart Breaker and Cold Roses way up there on my list of personal favorites. I think the Cardinal's line up on Cold Roses is one of the best bands I've ever heard.
But I know what you are saying. Ryan seems to be one of those artists who can't distinguish between a good song and a bad one.

Thats his angle, release EVERYTHING. There are no deleted scenes with Ryan Adams. He over saturates himself IMO, and there is nothing to look forward to, 13 studio albums in 11 years. He's the Friday the 13th of music.

Love Ryan Adams. But half of his stuff is mediocre.

You can certainly argue he releases too much chaff with the wheat, but when his stuff is good . . . it's very good. Talented songwriter and singer.

Agreed. But heartbreaker is perfect.

Agree with pretty much everything here. The guy is amazing at his best, but he just has no filter of what is good and just meh.

Love him, amazing songwriter and a great cover artist as well. I liked him better when he was on drugs and lovelost.

he needs one producer to reel him in and release one kick arse album.
La Cienga Just Smiled, Two, Fix It, This Is It - all great stuff. I also enjoy most of the Whiskeytown stuff too.
