I love both versions, but I prefer Kirsty's over Bragg's... though he did write an extra two verse's for her to record...

An incredibly beautiful cover that just helps you appreciate the lyrics of the song better than Bowie's version, IMO...

Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee" was better than Roger Miller's version.

So much better that Bobby McGee is now thought of as a guy, even though Bobby is a female drifter in Kris Kristopherson's original version.

Prior to her cover's release in 1971 it was only sung by male vocalists, after then, it was probably 95% female.

Janis Joplin completely owns the song.
