Rank the Death Cab For Cutie Albums

2. Transatlanticism
3. The Photo Album
4. Something About Airplanes/You Can Play These Songs With Cords (same songs essentially, YCPTSWC was a demo though)

6. Narrow Stairs
7. Codes and Keys
number 1 is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. just a different sound from anything I've heard. I love it.
as you can see, I'm not a huge fan of their stuff from Plans forward. not to sound like a hipster, but it seems like they quit experimenting and making their own sound and went for the stereotypical pop emo sound.
I'll still listen to 1-4 on my list until I die though. they're just so great

I know everyone loves Transatlanticism, but I'm not a big fan of it...

You Can Play These Songs With Chords is fantastic too. such a wide array of genres in one album. you've got darker sounds with Champagne From A Paper Cup, slower, ambient sounds in Line of Best Fit and Pictures in an Exhibition, Your Bruise, and then more upbeat, distorted rock like This Charming Man, grungy songs like TV Trays.
it reminds me a lot of early Stone Temple Pilots stuff at times.

Yeah, if a person didn't know it was DCFC, I don't think they would guess it's the same band. I liked their earlier, more diverse records before I feel they codified their sound.

we're on the same page. I love how WHTFAAVY goes from a dark song like Little Fury Bugs, right into a more upbeat (at least musically) song in Company Calls, then slows it down in the Epilogue.
Scientist Studies is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard, as well.

I'd put Something About Airplanes right behind We Have the Facts...and it would be close. The rest looks about right. The Forbidden Love EP could be the best thing that they ever did.

my top 4 are pretty interchangeable, and there's a huge gap between 1-4 and the rest of their albums
