And to some extent, Pretenders II
Such a shame. This band was HUGE, but could have been monumental.
There's a vevo doc on YouTube.

Martin Chambers was a machine on the drums, as well. Excellent. Surprising, how heavy he hit, yet was of great precise 'know what to do' prowess.

I was watching some of their old vids today. The perfect band imo, personnel wise.

Nick Lowe produced their first single and then quit because he thought “they were going nowhere”.

"My City Was Gone" is awesome. Been listening to that riff opening Rush Limbaugh's show for years, and it never gets old.
Plus, the social commentary combined with Hynde's rich and authentic vocals defines the best of The Pretenders to me. That it was the b-side of "Back on the Chain Gang" shows it was them at their very best.

I’m a fan boy since album one . Stellar guitar and melodic and gritty at the same time. Chrissy Hynde is legend. Some personal faves:
Bad boys get spanked . Precious. The Adultress. Waste not want not. Day after day. Time the Avenger. Thumbelina. I hurt you. 2000 miles. Tradition of Love. Hymn to her.

"Don't Get Me Wrong" is one of my all-time favorite singles.

My favorites. Love those songs
Honeyman -Scott was definitely underrated. His very short life influenced a lot of others with his style
Chrissie wrote 2000 miles about him after he died.

Chambers could pound and always in time.
He used minimal but tasty “fills”

First two albums were good then I thought the next good thing they did was "Night in my Veins".
Oh I also liked 2000 Miles.

Chain gang is probably my most listened to by them. Also like 2000 miles.
