Sheer Heart Attack

Got albums before this one, but News of the World was the first I paid for with my own money. Wore out the grooves on this one.

Even when I "let up" on the Metal assault of my aged neighbors that Fall of 1979, and pulled the needle off Rush's 'Tom Sawyer'..

It was Mangione 'Feels So Good', Brothers Johnson 'Strawberry Letter 23', Rafferty's 'Baker St', MJ's Off the Wall, Sat Night Fever, Eagles Hotel California, April Wine, AC/DC Back in Black, Led Zep In Through the Out Door, Bee Gee's Spirits Having Flown, Supertramp's Breakfast in America, Boston debut..really loud.

With a lil of Mom's Babs/Olivia Newton John/Gloria Gaynor & Dad's Sinatra/Herb Alpert/Gino Vanili/Boz Scaggs mixed in to give them a breather.

Looking back now, it was Biden level elder abuse.

The reason our generation is more well-rounded musically is because ALL genres were played on the radio; we had pop, rock, R&B, disco, new wave and soul back to back.

Bush- Everything Zen

I'm pretty sure as a young bcla I bought albums before this with allowance and what not, but this is the first one I vividly remember saving up for and buying the cassette. I was going into 7th grade and my mom read the lyrics in the insert, and this was the opening track (and the only song on the album with a cuss word). She almost took the tape from me but I told her to read the rest of the lyrics and she did and gave it back

I ripped off Columbia House for a slew of albums and 8-tracks (Chicago, Kiss, Simon & Garfunkel, Jim Croce, BTO, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, etc.).

But the first one I remember buying with money I earned was Van Halen's "Women and Children First". Got paid for my grocery store job and immediately rode my bicycle to the record store.

I just looked up the track list and learned that a 15 second unlisted instrumental bit on the album has a name, Growth, and was intended to be developed to a full song on a future album but never was. Growth on Youtube Article about it

Maybe Wolfie will put it on his album that is coming soon.
