I’m trying to get into some new prog metal, and I’ve heard some good things about Opeth. I’ve heard a few of there lighter songs like Harvest and Sorceress, but what are some other good ones I should check out, heavy and/or soft?

Halequin Forest is really good song. Saw them in Houston last year prior to COVID and it was a great show. Really like their last album but the Ghost Reveries is a great album!!

As already mentioned, Ghost of Perdition and Reverie/Harlequin Forest are great tracks. That entire album, Ghost Reveries

Other great songs:

The Lotus Eater
The Leper Affinity
To Bid You Farewell
The Grand Conjuration
In Mist She Was Standing (early death metal Opeth)
Serenity Painted Death

Several good recs so far.

Hopefully you're aware there are now 2 distinct eras for Opeth - death growls and post growl. Watershed from 2008 starts minimizing the growls on some tracks and subsequent records eliminate them entirely.

Blackwater Park from 2001 is a stone cold classic record from the first era and pretty much every track is great. Second the recommendation for Ghost Reveries too.

I like "Cusp of Eternity" from Pale Communion (2014) a lot, it's got a great groove.

Listen to the entire Ghost Reveries album. If you don't find anything you like on that album then no need to keep trying random songs. If you like Ghost Reveries then try Blackwater Park (The album, not just the song). If you like Blackwater Park then buy everything. Have fun.

I would say dont bother after Deliverance, but some people like their newer stuff.

Some awesome songs:

Blackwater Park (The song and not just the album. My favorite Opeth track.)

Demon of the Fall

The Moor

Bleak

Face of Melinda

The Funeral Portrait

Thanks for the recs everyone. I haven’t gotten to check out anything just yet, except for Ghosts of Perdition, which is pretty damn good.
