They wouldn't be in my top 10,000

I'd rather listen to the high school geeks from 1966 who got some $29.95 guitars at Sears so they could cover "Hanky Panky" at the prom

LOL away

It's their Stairway to Heaven or Freebird. Overhyped and overplayed.

Agreed.

I like the Eagles. Great harmonies. Good songwriting. Frey and Henley thought a little too much of themselves, but that happens in a lot of bands.

Eagles weren’t all bad. A couple of things happened (1) some of their stuff was overplayed and (2) later in life we find out that Frey (RIP) and particularly Henley aren’t real nice guys.

The band with was good musically given their ability to harmonize, songwrite and play.

The current version of the Eagles is a money grubbing tribute band.

Yeah, it's overplayed because it's a great song. You may be tired of it, but it's still one of the greatest and most recognizable songs of the 70s.

I loved Hotel California when the album came out and played the hell out of it. And in less than a week I was sick of it and that still is the case. The lyrics just try too hard and are somewhat pretentious. Warren Zevon covered the same topic WAY better with Desperados Under the Eaves.

Calling Hotel California one of the greatest songs of the 70’s is a dishonor to 70’s music.

I'm not saying that Hotel California is the best song ever recorded, I just think it's one of the most perfect songs ever recorded. Every beat, every note, every word is in exactly the right place, and it all fits together just right. That sound may put some people off, but I've always kind of marveled at it.

I love that song, but this is something of a non-sequitur. Are we to only have one song for each "topic?" Plus Desperados is about alcoholism whereas Hotel California explores other ideas like loss of innocence and the dark side of the glitzy LA scene.

Eagles are horrible.
Jesus I'd hate to see some of your record collections.
I'll bet it's littered with crap like Boston, Foreigner and Journey.
