On a guitar kick. Guitar question #2?

Give me some other badass guitars that aren't named Taylor, Martin, or Gibson?
I "play" an Alvarez AD 60 BK just looking toward a second purchase in the coming years.
I will of course look at Taylor and probably Martin. Gibson I feel is untouchable pricewise.

Are you talking Acoustic or Electric?
I use Fender and Taylor, but I also have an Ibanez Artcore (very similar to a Gibson ES 335 in looks) that was not expensive at all, and I love it.
Acoustic: Yes, Martin and Taylor would be at the top of the list somewhere. Takamine, Yamaha, Seagull would all be good guitars and very reasonably priced.

Acoustic. I like Taylors more than Martins when I pick them up in the store. Just don't want to overlook some other brand. European etc. That is in between "good intro" guitar Alvarez and a Taylor at 3000+.

I went back and forth between Taylor and Martin for a while. I feel like you get the sound of a $3000 Martin in a $1500 Taylor. Martins have a warmer/ darker sound, while Taylor is much brighter. Depends on your preference.

I agree but I do love the sound of a Martin I just can't justify their price tag as a hobbyist. If I actually played gigs and such and could look at it as an invest then I would have one, I just have no need at the moment.
Anyway to the OP. Look at a Big Baby Taylor. They are very affordable and a great guitar for the money.

Oh, I agree. I love the earthy tone of a Martin. The sound of the upper level guitars are unmatched. It's just the amount of money you have to pay to achieve that sound.

Eastman is making a pretty good martin style HD-28 D-18 copies for a lot less money if your wanting that sound

For an electric: Schecter
If you want an LP clone that sounds better than an Epi for about $100 less, look up Miami Vintage Guitars. I have one of those bad boys and it sounds awesome.
If you want a high priced guitar, look up G&L Guitars

Another thing about Seagull: they have what they call a tapered headstock (check out their website) that—at least for their 12-strings—they say offers greater resistance to the string tension associated with 12-string guitars. FWIW, the tapered headstock also gives Seagulls a signature look that sets them apart in a crowd.

A buddy of mine bought a ~$350 Takamine and loves it. He plays all over in Lafayette and the guitar always sounds top notch. I've played it several times as well. It has good action and a bright tone.

not sure if any of you guys have heard of this brand, but this is one of the coolest guitars I've ever seen. Wouldn't mind getting one. This is a German brand called Duesenberg the make is Star Player Tv Mike Campbell LTD

Had a Seagull in my hand (Entourage) at Guitar Center. Had the sales guy check stock in the back to see if they had one boxed. My "guitar player buddy" that everyone has said "Cedar top??" And that was it. Also, a $50 gift card to Amazon. And bought the Alvarez.
I have heard of Guild but don't think they are in my price range. I would just buy a lower end Taylor.
Had a Bluridge Br-40 that I almost bought from Craigslist. But I flaked on the guy.
