Any fans?

I am about 6 track in and it’s really good. Much better than their last one.

Highlights

Sideways Skull and The Birdwatcher feel like classic Hold Steady songs.

Sixers is also really good

I listened once, but hard to judge from just one listen. Will spend more time with it.

Also a new New Pornographers record today. Big day for mid 2000s indie rock.

Thought their last few were good not great. This one is excellent and really different yet has shades of older classics. One of of their best.

I saw them at Hogs for the Cause in 2014 and it was one of my favorite live performances ever.

I’ve listened to it a few times this weekend.

Really great album. Maybe my favorite since Boys and Girls in America.

Someone said it sounded very different while still sounding like Classic Hold Steady and I kinda agree with that assessment.

Carlos is Crying really reminded me of spices from their last album except they remembered the big guitar riffs we love them for

Have you seen them in a venue? I've seen them at festivals and at venues and I thought they were way better with the smaller venue crowds.

Nope. I saw Craig Finn open for Titus Andronicus at Gasa Gasa. But that was just solo stuff.

Highly recommended if they ever come back to BR or NOLA.
