Great stuff, Kevin still has songcrafter greatness within.

Glad our crew caught him with Lars Jaumet at Chimes two years ago, and then at Chelsea's Live earlier this year.

Wow, I haven't thought of these guys in over 40 years.

Yeah, I was never a die hard fan of them. But I did appreciate some of their music back in the late 80s and early 90s. I think I bought two or three of their releases back then.

The main reason I posted this one is because it is new and it sounds a lot like their stuff from 35 years ago.

I one drove Kevin from KLSU after interviewing him on air out to a skating rink on Florida blvd. It was some place that never had live music so I didn't know where it was and took me 20 minutes going up and down Florida looking for it. He was cool about it and said not to worry, they would wait for him.

Kevn has just put out quality release after quality release for nearly 40 years now. In fact, Scarred But Smarter will be 40 years old this October.

I think two years ago is about when Laur left to go back to Sturgill for his European tour. I’d love for him to get back with the boys at some point, but I have no idea what will happen. Last time I saw them was in Greenville in December of ‘24 and they were a three-piece. I had no idea until after the opening act was finished and they put Tim’s bass guitars behind where Laur usually stood. So I went and asked the merch guy and that’s when I found out.

Sadler Vaden is back with them though on this one and that’s a pretty damn good thing.

Well you’ve missed out on a lot of pretty damn good music then.

Wow. That’s a long time. But it makes sense. Like a lot of listeners, I did not pick up on them until Mystery Road. I went back and bought the first two before that, but never by any after.

Legit CSB.

I’ve spoken to Kevn on a couple of occasions and that sounds exactly like something he would say.

He’s a cool, laid-back dude.

That's Peter Buck on the 12 sting.

And the guy on electric on the far left, he looks really familiar to me but AI won't tell me who it is. Anyone here know? Guy with blue shirt.

sadler vaden, former DnC guitarist, but left to be with Jason Isbell full time. But he still tours with DnC, at least this year, when he's not on Isbell's tours. And apparently is featured in the video playing a 12 string Rick that Peter Buck is credited with in the liner notes.

During Kevn's solo career in Athens, I never met him but his bass player was my next door neighbor. Brian Howard. One day in broad daylight, his house was burlarized and all his musical gear was stolen. Clearly a targeted job. Nothing about that house screamed "I have expensive stuff in here". Like my house next door, it was a dump across the street from section 8. Plus, his wife was home all day, left for an hour to go to grocery store, came home and they were robbed. So targetted, and staked out.

He's been playing gigs with Peter Buck lately. I guess they have been buds since the early days.
