Jim Reeves. Was a practitioner of the Nashville sound. Known as "Gentleman Jim," while tragically died in a plane crash in 1964, his music continued to chart into the 1980s.
Well known for songs such as He'll have to go and distance drums. While distance drums was released two years after his death, it was a humongous hit in both the United States and the UK and was able to beat out the Beatles for the top spot. It became the song of the year in the UK.
