My IBG Epiphone Hummingbird was delivered an hour ago. I unboxed it and looked it over.

It was an open box deal so I expected some minor scratches or something, but it's flawless.
Tuned it up and it sounds and plays great. Truss rod is going to need tweaking slightly and needs a little work on the fret ends, but not much.
I really wanted a natural finish, but this one was almost $200 off full price in satin cherry sunburst. I will say, I don't care much for the bleached bone nut and saddle. They don't match the binding. I may put a brass nut on it and change the saddle for natural bone.
One thing about the cherry sunburst Gibson and Epiphone acoustics though, if you want to sell one, they will go fast.
This is the second time I've bought one of these open box deals and came out great both times.
Now I'm about to go over to my friend's house and play this thing all night.

i bought what was supposed to be an IBG SG off reverb but ended up being a 2014 SG faded. Reverb gave me $100 for my trouble so i got the probuckers that are in the IBG version and a new strap. what a guitar.

This is a great guitar yall. I've been playing the piss out of it. almost all night, then I woke up this morning and picked it up again.
The tone and projection are top notch, this thing is loud.
for finger picking, the individual notes are crystal clear and ring out with no muddiness..once again, very loud. It will make you want to show off a bit.
I might not do a damn thing to this guitar.
The strings it came with are 12s, that's usually heavier than I like, but with the shorter scale there is less string tension, so it works really well.
A friend of mine has one of the Epiphone Hummingbird Studio models, it's a good guitar, it's not even close to this one though. Whole different level, for only $300 more.

Wild thread to post without pictures.
I have an Epiphone Masterbilt dreadnought that I bought around 2019, and I enjoy playing it more than I do my Taylor. They make great instruments.

I like the epi ibg stuff. My gigging guitar is a j45 slash which is basically a ibg epi j45.

I’ve been so out of the guitar buying loop. I had to google what IBG even means.

It looks exactly like the sales photos at sweetwater.
Here is a link.

Basically IBG is the same thing as a Masterbuilt.

That was a great deal on those guitars/w hard case, I wonder how many of those they sold? A bunch I bet. I kind of wanted to go that route, if they had different finish choices I would have.
They only offer vermillion burst and November burst though.
The j45 has a bit sweeter tone IMO, compared to these square shoulder guitars.

The main reason i bought it was it was on closeout at Guitar Center, they had it marked from 999 to 650, mines a “November burst” the only bad thing about it is, it’s HEAVY and the neck is extra chunky, which doesn’t bother me overall,, but i do wish it was lighter.. its sounds so sweet plugged i with the lr baggs VTC

I got one of these on a trade a few months ago, I like the neck shape
I have the vermillion burst and would probably rather the other

Sorry for the diversion but what do y ou think about the Yamaha transacoustic? I play mostly for myself occasionally at church f or specials or as a backup. Seems like a good way to play round with effects without paying for ancillary equipment. My primary is a Taylor that I love.

I've only seen them on videos, have never come across one in real life yet.
Looks like a cool guitar though.
