According to a press release, MCR sold 228,600 tickets in under six hours. In response, the band added a second date in Newark, as well as two additional shows in Los Angeles. Those too, however, have since sold out.

They are playing Music Midtown in Atlanta in September. I will probably make that show if they don’t play a TN show on this tour.

I always really like The Ghost of You. It’s actually a solid song.

Disenchanted & Famous Last Words are phenomenal songs that would transcend across multiple genres

Yeah, I randomly looked at the Houston show a few hours after they went on sale and was shocked to see only a handful of overpriced resale tix.....weird. Is there really that much excitement for this band to be back together?

Absolutely there is. See, for people around my age (mid 20’s to early 30’s), MCR was huge. Their song “Welcome to the Black Parade” was the Bohemian Rhapsody of the 2000’s despite “emo” being super uncool outside of burnouts and alt scene kids. MCR was a band that most everyone loved, but couldn’t admit it publicly. Now that pop punk and emo are becoming retroactively cool from nostalgia, demand is through the roof.

Don’t forget that front man Gerard Way got more popular while MCR was broken up due to his tv and anime work, particularly with Umbrella Academy.

It’s a big deal they’re back at a time when so many of the other big acts from that time have left us (Yellowcard, Linkin Park, Lostprophets) or changed styles completely (Blink without Tom Delonge, Panic, Fallout Boy, Paramore)

I remember a song or two from these guys back years ago. Did not know they had gotten so popular...

Adele sold out her 2016 US tour (750,000 tickets) in 6 minutes.

Paul McCartney sold out his latest tour in about 3 or 4 minutes.

Just sayin...

Guess you weren't in school during the mid to late 2000s. MCR was the definition of emo music. Even non emo kids loved them some MCR. Couldn't go into classroom without seeing at least a Black Parade shirt or Three Cheers shirt

Pretty sure MCR is what made Hot Topic so popular

Was in HS in the early 2000s and don’t recall a single MCR shirt. Garbage band and garbage genre imo which means nothing. I’m sure what I listened to in HS isn’t considered any better though
