To clarify, I am not hating on every festival.

Jazz Fest is and always will be a spectacle.

Bonnaroo,as lame as it is getting, still is pretty special as it is almost non stop music for 4 days, with small breaks late every morning.

I like the little festivals thrown throughout the year at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park (Bear Creek,Wanee, etc) but the undercover police presence is almost overbearing.

I am not sure what to think of Coachella since it moved to it's new 2 week format. Just seems weird.

The festivals I am refering to in the op are all the mid tier ones popping up everywhere. Buku, that one in ATL,Forecastle (sp?). All those just seem like a cheap cash grab with poor planning, lame venues, and an overbooked lineup where artists dont get enough time.

It makes festivals less unique, and also leads to more drug related arrests.

Please give a few examples of festivals that have become "less unique" because of the influx of new festivals? If a festival is unique, I doubt there will be 10 copycats pop up. If it was that easy to replicate, then it really isn't all that unique.

I really don't see the harm in having more festivals that may not be as well done or interesting as your legendary ones.

Hangout Festival and then DeLuna. Not sure which one came first but they are carbon copies of each other and only 30 minutes away.

If you think RHCP and Jane's Addiction are anywhere near their prime, then you have a shitty taste in music.

Also the abundance of DJs is really ruining the scene. You know you have a problem when you can't hear Neil Young (even though you are in the front row) because Skrilldawg is blaring a few stages over.

Sounds like you've been taken advantage of noob...

You should probably stop going to festivals that are so poorly planned

You should go to Gathering of the Juggalos if you want something unique. There's still no other festival in the world like it.
