anyone out there listen through it? IMO, it's fantastic so far. "Panic Station" gave me a big ole groovy boner.

Haven't heard yet, but really like Muse. Excited to give it a listen.

It was streaming on iTunes a few days ago, and it is a great album. It's a departure from their other stuff, but it is distinctly MUSE. My favorite tracks are "Supremacy," "Panic Station," "Animals," "Save Me," "Liquid State," and "Follow Me." They only songs I don't care for are "Big Freeze" and "Explorers."

ETA: How about Wolstenholme's vocals on "Save Me" and "Liquid State?" I knew he could sing back up, but I never knew he could sing like that.

I'm actually quite dissapointed in it. I've only given it the first listen through last night, so my opinion may still change. Overall it's not a bad album, but the move to a Brittany Spears feel (Madness) is annoying. I find that he's focussing too much on his singing with this one, and there's less clever, more forced orchestration of the vocals.

so far, this is where I stand...

1. Supremacy... good opener, but not their best work
2. Madness.... terrible song; feels like the newfound fame is getting to them
3. Panic Station.... decent, but feels forced to me
4. Prelude.... very nice orchestration
5. Survival... on the fence with this one. This may be a dislike by me, but I can see this becoming a fav of mine after a few listens
6. Follow Me... annoying as hell; what's with the faux dub-step???
7. Animals.... Great song!!! Best of CD imo
8. Explorers... again, why the shift to cheesy electro beats? Boring song, but then again I've never been a fan of Muse's ballads
9. Big Freeze... Good song, nothing spectacular though
10. Save Me(Bass player wrote and sings this and track 10) ok opener, but this song really does pick up. Very good indeed, though the lyrics are cheesy
11. Liquid State... Great Song!! This one jams all hell! Second fav on CD for me
12. 2nd Law: Unsustainable.... love the classical orchestration. When the dub-step kicks in, my initial reaction was WTF?!?! and WHY??? After a few bars, I changed to THIS IS AWESOME! It really does work merging the classical with DS sound.
13. 2nd Law: Isolated System... very good classical piece with some beats thrown in to close the album

I personally don't like the popiness of the album by throwing in today's passing fad of dub-step and electo-pop beats, and I feel the anthemic nature of the band has been compromised. There are some gems for sure, but overall it feels week.

3/5 stars for me.... but this may very well change over time.

I got the album last night and after 1 full listen, I was disappointed. This album is all over the place and it's hard to get a feel for it.

It may grow on me over time, but at first listen I'm not overly impressed. These guys have put out some great work over the years, but this album just feels like they're trying too hard to change their sound for the sake of change.

Could change my feelings given time, but so far, meh

Only thing I've heard from the album is "Madness" and it wasn't that great. Being a big Muse fan I hope the rest of the album isn't the same.

I love it. And I've only listened through once so far. Track 12 is sick.

I think it takes three or four listens to get a solid feel for the album. I personally love it. One reason is that many of the songs will sound absolutely sick if they perform them live. MUSE is still the best live band I've ever seen.

I though Madness was mainstream and boring on the first listen through. I decided a couple days later to watch the Madness music video on Youtube. I started to REALLY like it then.

Bought the CD Tuesday and had a couple of skeptical listens. While I'm still not completely sold, I really still like Madness, Big Feeze, Survival, and especially Animals. Explorers isn't bad either. The bassist's vocals are quite good, but I just wish they would have ended the album with Bellamy.
Overall, 4 / 5. For reference, Resistance for me was a 5.72 / 5.
