Their status should be Beatle-esque. Underrated.
Agree, I thought maybe I was a little biased being from Boston. Like someone said I think critically they've got their due but commercial success was not great, although that come along with being pioneers I guess.

Another band that was great in 90s but very short lived was Temple of the Dog, the combination of Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder was awesome even though they only put out one album.

Mentioned already in one post with a dozen others, but Buffalo Tom is my favorite 90's band no one here knew about.

Alice In Chains. So much better than Nirvana
Alice in Chains is not a underrated band. They are one of the top rock bands of the 90s. Nobody compares IMO. Incredible non stop awesome songs.

Another band I really enjoyed in the 90s was Filter, always felt they were underrated.
I liked Filter. Then they made Take A Picture.

Back together and they have a new album out. It's pretty great.

I can take it
Seriously though, flipping through XM last night I see Ben folds five name on channel 29
Had to laugh at that.
Apparently BFF is a jam band

No arguments here on that one, that was the beginning of their fall.

There was a thread about them a few months ago...

Opeth is another band that deserves mention. Not many knowledgeable metal fans underrate them, but the mainstream music fan certainly does. I have so many friends that almost refused to like them because of Mike's growling, but once they get past that, it's like an epiphany.
