What’s the story with this place? Are there seats? Do they sell non alcoholic drinks? Parking?

Going to s show there soon. Seems a bit “different”.

It’s usually a young crowd, like under 21. It’s byob. The venue is attached to a music store. The sound system is excellent. Samantha Fish and Boovie Long should be a great show there.

i am far removed from the scene, but have been to this place while visiting my hometown last summer. It's a nice enough space with good sound, but yet another BR venue that is essentially a listening room or glorified house show. Where you would never go early or stay late and bring your own booze.

sorry .. but a town of that scale with a university should have 2-3 small rooms/bars like everywhere else (caps of 150-350). You had it as recently as 5 years ago with the Moon, Chelsea's and M+W all with solid calendars of local/touring.

sadly no longer.

dead poets is a nice new venue that has opened up and is booking bands on Wednesday nights. Spanish moon will open at some point soon hopefully.

So that's 3 venues, 2 of which sell alcohol.

Dyson House closing down sucks however.

Oh stop ... how many Legit small/med national touring acts are stopping by br these days ? Answer is not many as there is nowhere to play that can take risks by balancing out guarantees with booze sales

It’s a risk adverse amateur talent buying scene with little to no leverage or contacts

Whenever Spanish Moon has booked acts they've all been moved to Mid City Ballroom. They have shows announced into April. Spanish Moon has none. There's no way it takes a year to remodel that place.

a lot seem to be coming through the varsity.

Spanish moon being out of commission since may has certainly not helped. they've been putting their shows at mid city ballroom but it's obviously not the same.

a place like chelseas that serves good food, has a cool vibe and serves drinks.
there is a need for a smaller type venue (400 capacity) in a decent area of town nearby other places and not secluded from everything i.e. Spanish moon and mid city ballroom

I could not agree more. If Louisiana would stop being so draconian with its liquor and self-distributing laws, then Tin Roof could evolve into something like this if they incorporated one of their frequent food truck partners (Like Barbossa BBQ) into a brick and mortar restaurant on their site. I can practically see the "Tin Roof Smoke Shed" booking jam bands and serving BBQ.

Gentrification, what was a crack house in Mid City 5 years ago is fetching $180-200 per SQFT today.

1300sqft $245,000 walking distance from Mid City Ballroom

you make it seem like it's Opelousas

BR has had a lot of fun shows lately that I've been to. and a bunch of good shows in town that I'm looking forward to. I think eventually a smaller venue will emerge as the go to spot for live touring bands in town.

The line between optimism and foolhardy delusion has been erased cleaner than the live music calendar for this stultifying shite town.
