These type albums just seem gimmicky to me.

it's the very definition of a gimmick lol.

I want to know the target audience for a pop star or country singer singing a 30 year old metal song. Metallica fans or fans of heavier music in general sure won't GAF about those 2 covering the songs, and I somehow doubt a millenial female or a chillaxed dudebro that is a fan of miley/rucker respectively are going to care for it either.

I think this will be fantastic. Just listened to Miley Cyrus version of nothing else matters and I kind of did it. Came here to see if it was discussed. I’m not surprised by this board’s reaction though.

Agreed. Sure there will be some misses here, but I look forward to this.

I'm confused about the status of this. I could have sworn I saw one that had The God That Failed and My Friend of Misery. Where are half the tracks?

Yes, there are two versions of The God That Failed and three of My Friend of Misery, none of which are streaming yet. I think the whole thing is available on digital platforms sometime next month, I see 18 of the 53 songs on Apple Music right now. Not sure about the physical CD/vinyl release.

Bumping because they've released most of them (if not all). I really enjoy the Miseries.

Here's an interview on Stern with Elton John. Hetfield, I think, was slightly crying when John praised them so highly.

Pleasantly surprised by Mac DeMarco’s version of Enter Sandman.

Damn, I had kind of written off this album after hearing Jason Isbell's terrible one, but this Phoebe Bridgers one is great. And I had no idea Kamasi Washington did one. Definitely gonna have to check it all out.

I listened to a lot of it yesterday. I really like the ones that re-worked the songs a little and made it their own. Several of them just tried to sound like Metallica, which was kind of boring. And after first hating the Jason Isbell one, I came to like it after listening to it a couple of times yesterday.

My favorite right now is probably between Phoebe Bridgers's or St Vincent's. Kamasi Washington's wasn't bad either.

100% garbage.

This is worse than when Limp Bizkit, Avril, Lavigne, and Poop Dogg did their Metallica Icon tribute.

Yeah, this sucks. Bring on the downvotes.
