My tastes lean more toward black metal, atmospheric black metal, doom, and post-black metal with some southern sludge thrown in.

I don’t think metal will ever die! It definitely changes forms though.

Slam metal is where its at now!

Slam Worldwide

However - I do wonder about the future. We may see more and more groups going to more of a “rap” style with acts like ghostmane, $uicideboy$, scarlxrd, etc. These new rap groups are pulling dark elements of metal and incorporating it into rap. Who knows if the next gen will even be interested in picking up a guitar anymore.

This is the type of stuff I'm into these days as far as metal:

Brand new:
Together to the Stars: "Timeless"

and one of the best from last year:
Fluisteraars and Turia - De Oord

Plenty of good metal coming out every year. Sleep, Bell Witch, Powertrip, etc. have put out great albums recently.

It's kind of crazy how much metal comes out, actually.

The Black Market column on Stereogum does a great job of covering today's metal scene and always has 10 or more new metal releases in the column. I also like that they easily list by sub-genre, so I can dip into the ones that interest me more (not into thrash or power, for example).

Why are Trivium and Korn even relevant anymore?

Been getting into metalcore lately. New stuff from Currents and Architects rock pretty hard. Make Them Suffer is nice. Like the newish song from AILD. Wage War is fun too.
