LSU’s annual free concert is moving off campus for the second year in a row, and the newly named “Groovin'” is set for April 17.

Student Government Director of Programming Taylor Stewart said the event would remain free to students and the public. Having the concert at the Baton Rouge River Center Arena is more economical, less of a hassle and more convenient for the artists, she said.

Lame. I went last year, and while weezer put on a good show, the floor was 2/3 empty and they wouldn't let more people down there.

Does this mean they're gonna try to get bigger names? Maybe even stop censoring the artists?

If it hadn't been at the River Center last year, there's a 100% chance I would have gone.

Having a student concert at the River Center is just asinine. It needs to be in the PMAC just like back in the legendary days of yore when the PMAC was THE place to to start a major rock tour.

That blew so hard while I was at LSU. It was such a wasted opportunity too. I think they had a 200k budget and just booked pure shite with it. Plus they tried to make it all about sobriety or something.

It is booked and sponsored by Students on Target, an anti drugs/alcohol/fun organization. Kind of stupid for them to book someone like Ludacris and not allow him to do half his songs.

How many act wanna censor themselves for college kids?

The whole premise is completely retarded.

That said, if they get somebody decent, ill go.

That's a huge budget. If they're gonna keep it in the River Center they need to bring in some big names.

None of them.

That's why they usually don't censor themselves anyway (you want to book the ying yang twins and force them to censor themselves? Yeah, ok...).

I haven't reviewed any groovin' contracts. Couldn't say for sure, but having attended numerous years' events, I can say with certainty that the acts don't censor themselves like they are told to.

I think they get a little bit of leeway. I was thinking of the Yelawolf issue a couple years ago but he didn't get paid because he walked off the stage and not because he broke the profanity clause in the contract.
