A lot of these songs listed, are great, but I wouldn't consider them lost hits of the 80's.
The hit would have to be 'found' in order for it to be 'lost'
I consider a lost hit from the 80's to be a song that climbed the charts, but has zero airplay today
You have the right idea. A couple of the songs I mentioned are borderline but most of them were moderate hits that spent a good bit of time on the pop charts. These songs were in regular radio rotation back in the day but have gotten very little air play on all the 80s radio stations in the years since. In short, they tend to be the lesser renowned "hits" by hugely successful artists with tons of hits or forgotten hits by artists unfairly thought of as one hit wonders. A perfect example of the latter is "Pop Goes the World" by Men without Hats and "Sun Always Shines on TV" by A-ha.

the first three songs of the Drive soundtrack

Yeah, Eddy Grant had two, and a third which was douchey, and probably his biggest. Good call.
The guy epitomizes the 80's in many ways.

In a big country
is an amazing song, still gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I love songs that can do that

Kylie Minogue - "The Loco-Motion"
Seriously though, it actually reached #3 on the charts in 1988 and is still her biggest success in the US.

Opus - Live is Life
(heard this on an XM channel 8 top 40 countdown from 1986. Song was such a "lost" hit to me at the time I had to hear it a few times before I could recall hearing it back in the day

I took my then 3 year old son to see the Imagination Movers at Jazzfest a couple years ago.
They closed their set with a cover of Big Country and they NAILED IT! Props to them for tossing a bone to all the parents out there.

Lost 80's hit from a 60's band.
Living on a Thin Line - The Kinks
I'd easily have Word of Mouth as a top 3 Kinks album even against their early stuff.

Kinks - Destroyer
I'd also throw this song out as a lost 80s hit for the Kinks. Interesting song that seems to almost be a blend of "Lola" and "All Day and all of the Night". Great hard rock song.

Of course this song is only a lost song for those who aren't Cowboy Mouth fans, as they've been known to break this song out from time to time.
