Looking for a new playlist on Spotify

I’ve found myself falling into a rut with songs and music I continuously listen too during the day in Spotify lately. While varied (classic rock, 2000’s Nu Metal, singer/songwriter/americana, etc) I keep finding that Spotify is giving me the same 20-30 songs in each genre and over the past 4-5 months one growing weary of it. And yes, I realized how spoiled and entitled this reads.
But I love hearing new/different music I haven’t heard before. Does anyone have a Spotify playlist that they highly recommend? It can be more popular genres (like rock, hip hop, etc) or something more eclectic, I just want to hear some new things and figured there could be some good starting points on here.

The Beastie Boys playlist that is all the samples from Paul's Boutique and Charlie Crockette's playlist are both good.

"I Love My Underground Classics" is a solid hip hop list. "Spilled Ink" is another one.
"Indigo" is a good alt.country type list.
It's definitely easy to get into an algorithm feedback loop with Spotify. In some ways I like it because I know if I choose 2000s Indie, it's going to play me a bunch of stuff that I know/like. But it can just put you into an echo chamber as the algorithm tries to select stuff you like.
One good thing to do is to go to an artist you like and then scroll to "playlists artist is featured on" and "appears on." This can help to expose you to new stuff as the playlists aren't created by the algorithm (or at least they aren't all created by it).

I have a pretty solid one I've added to for quite some time now and still add to. I've never shared it but you're welcome to give it a try. Mostly alternative rock/singer songwriter/indie. No classic stuff, I try to keep it fresh.
Playlist title is "babies!"
There's probably some other playlists with that title, so the one with username @joe_jon_joejon is mine.

When did spotify start throwing randomly “suggested” songs onto playlists?

That’s weird because i have only this one playlist it always happens to but never any others and it’s always on shuffle.

If you search for one single song that you like and play it, after the song ends Spotify will continue to play songs in that genre and I've found a ton of new music that way.

This for sure. Also: does anyone know if Spotify takes money from the industry? There are certain artists that, no matter how much I skip past them, Spotify continues to subject me to them. Dangermuffin specifically. It feels liek there are certain artists out there that have bought exposure.
(yes, I'm aware I can exclude/ban that artist if I don't want Spotify to continue to subject me to them).

I'm sure they do. They copied the X "verified" artist thing. Verified? By whom? I don't need to know a greedy corporation "verified" you by taking even more of your money away.

quote:I think for custom playlists only, if you hit shuffle once, it'll light up in green and shuffle your playlist songs only - but if you hit shuffle a second time, it adds a little diamond shaped icon on the shuffle icon and it'll add recommended songs. Hitting shuffle a third time will turn it off completely.
