Selling this weird new country-rock thing; Byrds radio ad, 1968:
Jo Mora's "The Evolution Of The Cowboy", originally published as a promotional item for the Salinas Rodeo in 1933.
I believe it was revived for a Levi's ad c. 1950, which is probaby where the album's art director first came across it,

Wild Country - "Strawberry Mountain" (1975?)

This is a really interesting album that is an even split between straight country (by Don Tuter) and more progressive country-rock (by Danny Houle). There's also a really unique cover of "Honky Tonk Women" in the mix. This wonderful Houle song opens the record.

Great song! If an alien came down from the heavens and ask you to define Rock n' Roll, you would play this song for him, and he would understand.

Why would you post that in the Country-Rock thread?

That’s a great group of musicians. I’m a big fan of Jimmie Dale Gilmore. I saw him solo years ago at The Saenger, and he was excellent.

I don’t know if Charlie Robison (RIP) fits the bill (probably more of a Red Dirt/Texas country standard) but damn he was great.
