Every weekend radio ad during those days =
"Zebra and Lillian Axe at..." name your venue.
Was more of a Zebra fan then and now, but DEFINITELY remember "the Axe".

Can’t wait to hear the new album. Soon.

Lillian Axe still plays locally fairly often and they’re playing in the UK next month as well. Steve also has some side projects that play a lot locally. Maiden LA is his Iron Maiden tribute band with some guys that were in Dark August and Razor White back in the day -they are phenomenal. Another of his bands is Sledgehammer, which plays metal and classic rock covers. Lillian Axe also has a new album coming soon.

Now that’s a blast from the past.
Steve also played in my teenage years favorite band, Angel, for a long time if I remember correctly. Would love to see Lillian Axe again. Last album of theirs I bought was XI: The Days Before Tomorrow. Was really good.

Steve’s Sledgehammer is playing Southport Hall Aug. 5 and his Maiden LA band is playing Sept. 2. I’m sure after Axe finishes their UK thing they’ll be back playing locally soon.

Meet them at a meet and greet at Sound City on Florida. Their first album was about to come out. They were about to play a show at the Sports Page later that night.
Really cool dudes. Kinda shite music, but then there was a lot of that back then. The only good song on the album was Dream Of A Lifetime, and it's kinda cheesy itself. Paint by numbers hair metal.
Steve was a standout talent, but I haven't heard a thing about them in decades.

The only original member left in Axe is Steve.
Unfortunately they have not been able to keep a singer everytime you see them they have a new singer.
The best singer they had was of course Ron Taylor and Derek Lefevre was by far there 2nd best singer. No one else that Steve has gotten has been even Decent in my opinion.

Michael "Maxx" Darby, the current bassist, is actually the band's original bassist, even though he wasn't with band during most of their recording career.

In addition to being an incredibly talented guitarist, writer and composer/arranger, Steve is one of the nicest and most genuine guys on the planet. Talk to him five minutes and you'll feel like you've been pals for decades.
A friend of mine was friends with Steve and I met him. Awesome guy. Humble and great to talk to. He is a very talented guitarist and song writer. There are a lot of hidden gems in his first 3 or 4 Lillian Axe albums if you like hair metal type music. I have seen them live well over 20 times back in the 90s. Always a good show.

The new singer, Brent Graham, is ridiculously good and also cut from the same clothe as Steve as far as being very nice and friendly. I watched several of his shows with his prior band and he was always chatting it up with people before, during the break, and after the shows. Seems like a great fit.

Sledgehammer opened for Zebra for their annual shows at the Civic each December. Sledgehammer is always a snooze fest, but Zebra can still bring it.

Yep, saw them many times in local bars in the early 80’s. Should have never gotten rid of their original singer before their first album came out. Steve Blaze was/is a beast.
Yeah buddy. For me it was a couple of teen friendly clubs in the early 80’s since I didn’t turn 18 until ‘84 but hell yeah. I really enjoyed their shows.
