The style of music is all over the place but I like it! One could be regular vocals and another could be hard as shite. I'm liking Blood and Thunder the most right now.

Side note: I started listening to DevilDriver too.

Got any suggestions on songs from either of them?

Mastodon has changed their sound a good bit over the years. Leviathan is in my top 3 favorite albums of the 00s. I think its a good mix of their harder, sludgier stuff from Remission and their more prog stuff later on. Check out Hearts Alive from that album. Its an epic mostly instrumental song.

I like Devildriver but their songs are all pretty much the same. End of the Line is decent enough I guess.

All of them. Seriously.

Beginning with Crack the Skye they infused much more prog elements into their style. It's sort of the perfect hybrid of the intensity and fury of the first three records and the atmospheric style of the later releases.

They very well might be the most consistently good metal/hard rock group in the past 25 years.

Only Opeth's discography compares in terms of overall quality and evolving their sound over time.

Check out:
"Blood and Thunder"
"Oblivion"
"The Czar"
"Black Tongue"
"Tread Lightly"
"The Motherload"
"Asleep in the Deep"
"Sultan's Curse"
"Roots Remain"
"Seabeast"
"Sleeping Giant"
"Stargasm"
"Dry Bone Valley"

Ember City is a masterpiece. That second solo gives me chills. I've really enjoyed their recent progression into this metal prog hybrid. Brann is such a great drummer and singer.

Thickening

Very underrated song from The Hunter, which I think is their most underrated album.

No Curl of the Burl...come on man. Some great songs you listed, but for someone trying to get into Mastodon, you can't omit Curl of the Burl.
