Have any of you seen John Butler Trio live and in a non-festival setting? How was it? I'm thinking about buying tickets to see him. Thanks

I have seen them a couple times. Very entertaining show. What show are you going to? I was thinking about getting tickets to the Mobile one.

The Saenger is a badass venue

John Butler is amazing talent on the guitar. Saw him live, he puts on a hell of a show.

His guitar picking is among the best. But his whiney voice keeps me from going back

Have seen him twice at Red Rocks. Extremely talented guitarist and I'd highly recommend him.

How is his new stuff with his new band after he fired the original members?

He's also a huge prick IRL.

I have heard this about him, but I'm not trying to have tea with him. I'll probably go to the Saenger show.

That's cool. I just felt like being negative. I met him at a show that had probably about 10 people at it in 2004. I'd be a prick to me too.

I've heard it from other people, as well. Particularly, I heard he couldn't be bothered by fans at meet and greets.

I am a huge fan of JBT, but have only seen them twice. Both times were with the former lineup and before he cut off the dreads. The music has changed a lot since then, but I still dig it. I much prefer the Sunrise Over Sea/Grand National material but the new album grew on me a lot. Anyway his live show is ridiculously good and I saw some YouTube clips with the new lineup the other day and they are as good or better. Buy the tickets. You won't regret it.
