To laugh at that statement just proves your ignorance

i'm definitely a phish fan & have been to a couple of their festivals (great went & big cypress), but responsible for the festival scene? nah. before anyone ever heard of phish, there was montreaux, pinkpop, lollapalooza, summerfest, glastonbury, reading & leeds, etc.....
maybe phish helped a tiny bit with the "national branding" of certain festivals in the US (ie bonnaroo), but that's it.

precisely, the brits would laugh at phish. Glastonbury is leaps and bounds ahead of any shitty festival they've ever played.

Notes: This single-set performance was part of the annual Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts that also included Beck, David Byrne, Pavement, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Spearhead, and Stereolab. Phish performed on The Pyramid Stage. Wilson was an appropriate opener, as the venue was less than 50 kilometers from Stonehenge

cool, they played it once. that has nothing to do with the development of Glastonbury.
British people, and most europeans for that matter, don't give two shits about phish.

ya, but you can't say phish is responsible for it all. That shite started in Europe - as it usually does.
