I guess woodstock never happened?

Woodstock was a fricking disaster, and was almost the death of the American music festival. Again, Phish svaes the day.

quote:

"It seems to me the whole reason Woodstock '99 failed was because of the kids. Kids from all over came to Rome and had no sense of authority, and did not care about any but themselves. The promoters should be held to be blame, but also the irresponsible people who attended. It seems a strange contradiction-- the week before Woodstock '99, [50,000] people gathered in Oswego New York to see the rock band 'Phish'. The event was in more cramped quarters, and was just as hot, and to my understanding no major problems were reported. Maybe if people behaved like they did at the Phish event this wouldn't have happened." -Gov. George Pataki

Everything comes from Europe.

Glastonbury has been put on since 1970 with huge success.

Phish was able to attract the crowd in the US by themselves, but they by no means did the reinvent the wheel.

I question your literacy.

Phish puts on festivals-->Phish crew uses knowledge and template to make the first Roo, AKA the grandfather of the modern american festival--->Festival business explodes.

The people who put on Bonnaroo (THE modern music festival) were the same people that were part of Phishs crew that put on Clifford Ball, The Great Went, and Big Cypress. They literally used the same template from the Phish festivals to put on Bonnaroo. From there the festival circuit has exploded.

So you are ignoring the people that provided the template for Phish's festivals. As if they didn't even use one, that they just made it up as they go.

I would argue that Woodstock and Field Trips and the like provided a template for Phish's crew. So, Ken Kesey invented the modern music festival...

This is retarded
