Yea, they started the grunge band movement which fizzled out pretty quickly. I guess they're important if you're into audioslave, soundgarden, and silverchair.

Phish and Radiohead started musical movements that are still lingering today. I've seen pearl jam, phish, radiohead, and RHCP. Phish and Radiohead are easily better live performances without a doubt although pearl jam puts on a good show.

The only example I'm hearing is festivals. I think one could argue both ways about Phish being what festivals model themselves after.

Huh? Phish invented the modern music festival.

I don't think festivals are the most important thing in the music industry, so how could Phish be the most important if that is their only major contribution?

Are you paying attention? Summer festivals are by far the biggest part of todays music scene.

Honestly, give the landscape of today's music, the most influential artist or band of the 90's was probably some Euro electronic group, daft punk or tiesto or some shite i don't know about or listen to.

Those types of "musicians" didnt blow up until after they realized how to take advantage of the music festival.

They blew up in europe a long time before they did here. I don't know shite about electronic music but I know I have been hearing Tiesto's name for ages. And phish didn't do any European festivals.

I don't think Phish has been a direct influence over a whole shitload of bands playing today, or even a decade ago.

Musicians, the music being played, that is more important than festivals to the industry.

ETA: And enlighten me on what Phish did with festivals that wasn't done before. I honestly don't know.

Never said I was a fan of them. Just said as far as the 90's goes that's who was on top.

You really don't understand what nirvana did... Maybe you should read up on them and educate yourself... And I'm not some huge nirvana fan

no he can't. He was literally 8 years old when Phish was at there peak in the mid to late 90's.

his only arguments about phish is the shite he regurgitates from PT.com. I love phish but can't stand to listen to him discuss the band.

"All of you "kids" don't know anything about Phish or the 90s. Yall are just a bunch of gneubs" Always funny hearing that from the old douchebags on this board that only chime in for phish threads and know nothing else about today's music scene.
