Saw that on TMZ today. Bronchitis.
He still smoke? 90% of recovering addicts smoke or it seems like, and he smoked before anyway.
Plus I believe he never shot heroin. He always smoked his heroin. Think I heard that in a YouTube video.
Smoking balls of tar and heroin can't be good on the lungs.

Clapton is now 72, got off heroin 44 years ago, he has been sober for about 35 years, he quit smoking about the same time he quit drinking, not sure the term "recovering addict" still applies.

Clapton wrote in his biography that due to fear of needles, he always snorted his heroin, not smoke or inject.
His septum must be iron by now with all the smack & blow that has been up there

Considering how subjective a determination like this is, let's look at the resume:
-Ranked very high on Greatest Guitarist lists by Rolling Stone, Gibson, and Time Magazine (top five)
-Nicknamed "Slowhand" and "God" as acknowledgement for his guitar skills
-Won 18 Grammy Awards
-A Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music
-A CBE in England for services to music
-Three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee
-Considered an influence by the legendary British guitarists, American guitarists, and Jimi Hendrix widely held as the GOAT
-Selected as British cultural icon by Sir Peter Blake
-Released a total of 18 top ten albums(including those with Cream and Blind Faith)
Therefore, Eric Clapton is not the most overrated guitarist of all-time.

No shite. Hugely revered and respected by the music community. Tick off the folks he has played with and it is a who's who. He founded the Crossroads Festival and all of the players that come are at his personal invitation.
Where these dolts come up with the most underrated guitarist of all time is beyond belief.

Well if rolling stone says he's good then that settles it

Clapton boys get mad when you tell them he was the third best musician in Cream.
I think Jack & Ginger pushed Clapton, much like John Mayall. did in the Bluesbreakers.
After Blind Faith (Steve Winwood & Ginger) and Derek & the Dominos (Duane Allman) where he was around top talent, he became his own leader and went solo-he never came close to being what he was so I agree in that he was overrated...

Clapton was God briefly. He was and is, an amazing guitarist.
As for him being the third wheel in Cream, uh, check it out. We're talking about a primo drummer who was an a-hole, who already had made Bruce's life a hell.
I have yet to understand how he bullied Jack Bruce into Cream.
Both welcomed Clapton as they were sure they could do something more than interesting together.
If I'm not mistaken, Clapton joined out of fear of Baker.
He was not Hendrix. Hendrix had not happened on the scene yet. The pinnacle was represented by Clapton prior to that.
A lot of buffonery on this board.
