Then probably Piece of Mind, Seventh Son, and Killers for some pre-Bruce stuff (different, more punky, but still awesome).
Paul Di'Anno
The early days
My favorite song with Paul singing is Remember Tomorrow

Piece of Mind has really strong songs in Revelatjons, Trooper, Stilllife but really tails off towards the end and doesn't have the cohesion as an entire album like NotB and Powerslave. IMO.

I thought I'd go a different route and curate 2 songs off of each album for you to build a playlist primer:
Iron Maiden - Prowler and Remember Tomorrow
Killers - Killers and Wratchild
Number of the Beast - Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name
Piece of Mind - Revelations and Flight of Icarus
Powerslave - 2 Minutes 2 Midnight and Powerslave
Somewhere in Time - Wasted Years and Stranger in a Strange Land
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - Infinite Dreams and The Evil That Men Do
No Prayer for the Dying - Tailgunner and No Prayer for the Dying
Fear of the Dark - Afraid to Shoot Strangers and Fear of the Dark
Brave New World - The Wicker Man and Brave New World
Dance of Death - Dance of Death and Paschendale
A Matter of Life and Death - Brighter Than a Thousand Suns and Lord of Light
OK, I hope that helps. I'm leaving off the most recent 2 albums (even though the most recent is great)

"Woe to you, oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the beast with wrath,
Because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number,
Its number is Six hundred and sixty six."

I really think Maiden - and Steve Harris specifically - is one of the great unsung business successes of all time. Despite virtually zero radio or industry support, this bass player and songwriter built a massive global following and sold 100 million + records.

I just want a sampling of their best stuff
The entirety of Number of The Beast.
Hallowed Be Thy Name is a top 5 intro/ top 3 metal riff of all time.

Amen, I think I have heard Iron Maiden on the radio maybe 5 times in my life.

They had plenty of videos during the Headbangers' Ball era, but I think the only mid-day spin I ever saw from them on MTV was "Wasting Love" - the ballad on Fear of the Dark.
I saw Harris on That Metal Show awhile back and his demi-god status was palpable - the biggest aura I've seen from all the guests on that show. The panel and the audience were all sort of in awe the entire time.
There really is no better feeling than being in an arena waiting for Maiden to take the stage and then hearing the first strains of Doctor, Doctor play through the PA. You know it's about to be on for real.

I only remember seeing one or two videos from them in the 80s-early 90s. I think they're a lot more popular in the rest of the world than America, but they're still pretty big here.

They had a lot of videos. Offhand, I can remember (from my old VHS collection!):
Number of the Beast
Flight of Icarus
2 Minutes
Wasted Years
Stranger in a Strange Land
Can I play with Madness
Evil that men do
Clairvoyant
Bring your daughter
Wasting Love
be quick or be dead

Perhaps by percentages now, but I would be surprised if the US wasn't their best country over the years.

Damn, forgot about that one. Great song about a WWI battle.

I've learned more history from Iron Maiden than I ever did in school

I've listened to many of their songs, then went digging for background info.

For me:
Killers, to get the "pre Dickinson" era covered.
Number of the Beast
PowerSlave
Live after Death
Then honestly their last three have been fantastic. I'd definitely get one of those as well.
Just my thoughts.

I thought this was put together really nice. Interesting story following them around the world.

They've upgraded for this year's tour to a 747.

Great thread! I just ordered Maiden's last two because of this thread. By the way, Brave New World and Seventh Son were my favorites.

Book of Souls is great. I think Final Frontier might be the only Bruce album that really just didn't click with me.
