I've gotten my first car with blue tooth and this is how I am celebrating.
1. Whole Oates
It's just not very good. There is not one song I would play more than once.
2. Abandoned Luncheonette
This one sucks as well except for "She's Gone"
3. War Babies
I've just started listening to this one and it has some good ditties so far such as "Beanie G and the Rose Tattoo"
4. Daryl Hall and John Oates (self titled album)
Sara smile and grounds for separation were my favorites.
5. Bigger than Both of Us
This one has Rich Girl. Back Together Again was good. I actually let this one play twice while driving. I could listen to this one on the reg.
6. Beauty on Backstreet
This one was harder with guitar riffs than the previous albums. The sound evolved in this one. John came at it like he had something to prove. Dont Change, why DoLovers Break Each Others Hearts, You Must Be Good for Something, and Love Hurts were all good. Bad Habits and Infections, and The Emptyness were darker for my taste, but were really good. I give this a 9/10.
7. Along the Red Ledge
It's a Laugh is the most well known song from this album, but I preferred Dont Blame It on Love and Melody for a Memory. Alley Katz sounded like it had a punk rock feel to it.
George Harrison and Fripp contributed to this album. I give this album 9/10.
8. X-Static
Wait For Me, Number One, No Brain No Pain were my faves.
9. Voices
Very big album. Kiss is on my list, you make my dreams, gotta lotta nerve was my b side fave. Electronic music was mainstream and this album embraced the keyboard/synthesizer. This album is more popish than previous ones. 9.5/10 for me.
10. Private Eyes
What else is there to say? Cant Go for That is on it. Imo, it is a top 10 song evar. Not only did it top the pop charts but it was number 1 on the R&B charts. I cant think of another white act that did so.
How many babies were conceived while this song was playing?? I gander to think at least 20 OT loungers were. The lovemaking happening during this song playing on a loop was probably contagiant.
Private Eyes is on it as well for the 2fer. Unguarded Minute and Your Imagination are 2 lesser known great songs on here.
I give this album 11/10.

It might be cheesy, but I think that When The Morning Comes is a great 70s pop song.

I picture John going to bed and waking up with his partner in that one.

I have their greatest hits album. It's great. I think that will do.

I saw Hall & Oates in Lafayette. They were unknown at the time and the back up to the back up band.
I remember thinking at the time, these guys are really good and could go places. But I wasn't thinking they'd make it to the top and stay there for so long.
And I remember them playing She's Gone, we were on the front row.

I never really appreciated them when I was a teen and watching their videos on MTV. The visual medium didn't do them any favors. It wasn't until later that I got it.
I recently watched a documentary about Linda Rondstadt on PBS and saw John Oates playing lead guitar in her band. That was pretty cool.

Apparently I appreciate the greatest duo in music more than you do, guy.

A lot of great music. Everything from Abandoned Luncheonette to H2O is really solid.
...with the except of Beauty on the Backstreet.

For 1973, "Abandoned" is pretty impressive. The great Benard Purdie playing drums on She's Gone.

What were you expecting? They were the Justin Bieber's of their day.

JFC, your takes on everything are awful. Hall and Oates are towering figures of Philadelphia soul and the most successful duo in music history.

They were a laughing stock to any serious music fan back then. It's hilarious you kids think they were some towering figure. They were pop garbage.

Lol. Yeah, they were pop garbage, that's why Robert Fripp made two records with Daryl Hall and Daryl almost joined King Crimson.

That was Hall trying to gain credibility and Fripp trying to make some money. Those were Fripp albums with Hall on vocals. And I don't deny Hall could sing.

Lol. You're right, except for the fact that one was the Fripp album Exposure that wasn't released with all of Hall's vocals until years later and the other was Daryl's Sacred Songs, which the record label didn't release for three years. If Hall can sing, didn't he already have credibility? How did Fripp make money on an album with Hall that never came out?
Hall & Oates are in the R&R Hall of Fame and are the best-selling duo of all time.

I helped a black friend with some home improvements and to pay me back
he bought me a LSU shirt and the H&O greatest hits. He said he liked them b/c he thought they sounded like black singers which is true..., they were classified as blue-eyed soul singers. That means they were white that played R&B.
