Apparently a band I never heard of played at the restaurant I went to tonight. The damn cover was 20 dollars. There was quite a bit of stir from the people there and when this band came out. The singer had a voice like Robert Plant from Led Zeplin but he played in a blues band. It was all bluesy songs. I was talking to a guy that had been listening to blues for years and he said they weren't even the best he's heard.

I listen to the entire set and wait for the next band. Then they came out and started playing folk music. I said the hell with this and I left. Well I walk out in the parking lot and the Parker Millsap band is standing in the parking lot drinking beers. The drummer gives me a big smile and a how was it face. I told him I wasted my money and you guys suck man. They all started laughing but I wasn't.

I got home did some research, come to find out they've played a couple of places.

There was a lady with an Alabama Shakes shirt on there tonight. I would have rather heard them than that band.

Shitty way to promote your band.

That humble shite is played out. Put EMGs in a les Paul. Get a drummer who can at least play 160 bpm on double bass..and go set some fires.

He got up there in a goddamn mickey mouse shirt and acted like he was going to fall asleep while he was singing. If it was me I would have been up there like this.

If that would be you, then I would have to retract the "go set some fires" part. James was lucky he didn't kill himself that one time.

Nirvana played with that passive aggressive style but they kicked arse. If your going to dress like a slob at least bring it.

Yup, easy to sit on the sidelines and say.

Tell us where you're playing and we'll come review it.

PS: I don't know who Parker Millsap is but he's got the testicular fortitude to go out and perform. He's probably not worried or writing online about some angry Cotton Hill critiquing his band.

Alabama Shakes is good so is that supposed to be an insult?

Also according to your OP you are an outright a-hole.

I like me some Parker Millsap. He comes on the John Moreland online stream I listen to on a fairly constant basis.

I'll never forget when I went to The Basement East (Nashville) to catch some live music. The cover was pretty steep ($25) and Parker Millsap was playing.

I said to the dim-witted, hipster girl collecting cover, "Whose Parker Millsap? I've never heard of him?"

The imbecile replied with, "Wow. He's a nationally touring musician."

I replied with, "Yeah? So was my wedding cover band..."

So, I went in and saw him...I thought he was pretty good, but not great. Kinda generic and forgettable.

That "next band" was bluegrass wizard Sarah Jarosz and her talented band. The guitarist pulled magic out of every instrument he touched during their show here.

ETA: and yes, I thought that while P.M. and band had some of the best concert audio I have heard in a while, I still hated his show as well. Weird combination to put with such a precise talent as Jarosz.

Parker Milsap gets a lot of love but I have no idea why. He has opened for my brother a couple of times and I thought he was completely average . But my brother thinks he is the second coming

Even if I didn't enjoy the band, I would have not told them they suck. If you feel you need to be a hard tell-it-like-is tough guy. There is a more tactful way of giving them constructive criticism.

I like him okay, he is kind of generic, but if he comes on pandora I rarely change it.
