Exactly who I was going to mention. He had an insane vocal range in his prime.

Power Metal has alot of singers that can go high register. Plus the plethora of incredible female singers in metal like Flor from Nightwish .

The gold standard but the problem with all of those high range recordings was that few if any could replicate it in concert.

Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Axl Rose, Sebastian Bach, Ray Gillen, David Coverdale, Mark Slaughter, Klaus Meine, Udo Dirkschneider, Stephen Tyler, Joe Elliott, Rob Halford, etc., etc, Almost all of the high range '80s vocalists could sing that way live.

Check out bands like Crazy Lixx, Crashdiet, and Hardcore Superstar.

Are they still doing stuff now? I was a fan of Hardcore Superstar maybe 10 years ago. Kinda forgot about them.

I saw Steelheart open for Lynch Mob and pretty much nailed it then, but this was 90-ish.

Jani Lane was pretty badass. The guy was so under rated vocally, just listen to "Uncle Tom's Cabin".

Uncle Tom's Cabin hits like a sledgehammer when that lick comes in. Amazing song.

Granted but nobody ever said Freddie is under rated. He stands pretty tall on that R&R male voices pedestal.

Very much. Saw them live opening for Motley Crue (I think) early 90s. Really great dude too from everything you hear. Sad ending RIP.

Lane used to come through BR when with Bobbie Brown. My mother met them via her business. He actually enjoyed that she had no clue who either of them were. She found him very humble for a rockstar.
