I don't consider then GOAT but they were a really interesting band. I'd never listened to anything quite like Sublime when I first heard them and never since.

Probably my second favorite band of the 90s. If it was possible to wear out a CD, I'd have done just that with most of their stuff.

This is going to be an extremely unpopular opinion but Slightly Stoopid > Sublime

I was in love with all their live stuff that started surfacing yrs ago. You could always tell the shows Brad was smacked out of his tree. hed throw the little freestyles at the end of jams and wail like he was channelling otis redding or something

Motherfricker had real soul for a white boy

will be in attendance at their show in Lake Charles Friday night. If their setlist is anything like the one from their show on 7/20, it should be a good time

I actually really like Rome.
Obviously he’s not Brad, I get that, but he seems to fit the band well.

Considering of all the white boy reggae bands none have ripped off sublime so poorly or egregiously as them, yeah it's kinda bad

I don’t think they’re even that similar.
Closer to the Sun, 2am, Collie Man, and This Joint are all really good songs too

Downvote away big guy. If you go through there entire catalog youll hear that theyve pretty much picked sublimes lyrics clean over the years. just like pepper or any of the others

And I dont hate their music. but I dont really care much for it either

Brad signed Slightly Stoopid to Skunk, they're his proteges... They've had a great career and have a bunch of good music. I don't think it compares to the best Sublime stuff though.

I got obsessed with all of the bootlegs back in the day too. I love how each one is so different and has it's own personality.

They're far from the GOAT, but they get a lot of unnecessary hate. Some of their stuff is actually pretty incredible. I'm a huge fan of old ska/rocksteady/reggae, and Brad could weave that stuff in and blend it with modern mixing equipment and instruments and give that style a new life. Sometime he blatantly ripped off old artists, but other times he created something that had never been heard. I can really get down with the albums Robbin the Hood and the posthumous Second Hand Smoke.

A lot of the bands to come after Sublime couldn't blend the old and the new like Brad could. Most of the spawns focused heavily on the dorm room reggae sound. That's alright, but it's not original. Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Dirty Heads, and others like them fill a niche, and I enjoy some of it, but not like I enjoy Sublime.

Love sublime.

Bradley was lit AF. He definitely got his garden grove lyrics backwards
