I watched the entire set because I had never seen them, and they were the last band before the headliner. I was just keeping my spot! Haha

Chevelle is a blatant Deftones rip off. In fact, their most popular song is a plagiarism of Be Quiet and Drive by Deftones.
Which most popular song are you referring to. Chevelle has tons of popular songs. In fact they're one of the only bands I can think of that doesn't have a filler song across their whole discography. I can't say I've ever listened to Chevelle and thought Deftones rip off.

Chino has a unique vocal which turns some people off.
It just happens to work for me

Deftones has been one of the constant bands in my rotation for probably the last 25 years. I think it's just so different than most stuff I like it's almost hard to explain.
For those trying to figure them out, my favorite song(s) off each of their albums:
Adrenaline: Root + Bored
Around the Fur: MX
White Pony: Passenger (feat. Tool's Maynard James Keenan), Knife Party, Digital Bath
Self-Titled Album: Minerva
Saturday Night Wrist: Hole in the Earth
Diamond Eyes: Diamond Eyes, Beauty School, Prince
Koi No Yokan: Entombed, Rosemary
Gore: Hearts/Wires - Probably the most serial killer feeling song they have IMO
Ohms: Ceremony - If the riff and lyrics starting at 1:46 don't do anything to you, you will not like this band
Chino also has a handful of side projects. Best music from my favorite one, ††† (Crosses):
This is a Trick
The Beginning of the End (Cover)
Bitches Brew

I actually have to go with either Team Sleep or Palms. Team Sleep was phenomenal live. Zach Hill is amazing.

I want to kill myself music, but not good enough to get the job done, just good enough to get an overnight in the hospital.

I felt exactly the same way at first, Deftones didn’t click with me in the beginning. Their music seemed kind of cold and hard to connect with compared to bands like Chevelle, but over time, certain tracks started to stand out. Minerva and Digital Bath were the ones that finally made me appreciate how they blend heaviness with these really dreamy, atmospheric parts. It definitely isn’t music that grabs you instantly unless you’re in the right headspace, but sometimes that moody, layered sound just works, especially late at night.
If you end up wanting to actually check them out live and see what the fuss is about, I always hunt around for deftones Tickets before committing, just in case I change my mind or find a better deal.

Having really liked them since the adrenaline album when I was a teenager lol. Same with foo fighters and their first album but holy shite I LOVE both of those albums.

Not going to lie, I dont get these threads.
No one can talk anyone else into liking a band.
If you dont jive with the music, then that's that. No amount of explanation will ever change that. Another album, maybe? But that would just taking listening.
