First day I drove the jeep Crash by Dave Matthews band had been left in the CD player. I loved it, eventually started listening to their other music and bought concert tickets three years later.

I was introduced to the girl that would become wife at that show.

So In a way that album changed my life.

Man, I love reading stuff like this. So crazy how life works. If any other CD on earth was in that player, it's almost certain you would not be married to your wife today. Crazy to think about how things so small and insignificant can end up having such major impacts.

Periphery's first album is really what got me into prog. I used to only listen to stuff like Lamb of God until their demos came out for that album. Anyways, they were a huge influence on my drumming and music writing.

For me it was John Cougar's American Fool. I was a high school senior when it came out. We were Jack and Diane.

Probably "Brewing Up with Billy Bragg". Besides solidifying my political left leaning tendencies, he made me want to learn to play guitar.

Maybe not changed my life but a few have had some real significance over the years...

Treepeople- something vicious for tomorrow

Built to spill- perfect from now on

New Order- Substance

Lagwagon- Hoss(& others)

Samiam- Clumsy

Lots of 80's new wavey type stuff that I still listen to regularly like early Cure, DM, Smiths etc...

Heard U2's The Unforgettable Fire and my life was changed forever. The album spoke to me like nothing I'd ever heard before. I literally wore off the ink on the cassette tape. Has sent me on a life long quest to follow U2 and similar music. I have so many good memories associated with that album.

El Cielo had a huge effect on me too. I saw dredg live a few years ago, as great as any show I've ever seen. Also saw the Mars Volta live and Deloused in the Comatorium had an enormous effect on me as well.

Also Darkside of the Moon and the Wall were very influential to me as a musician and poet/lyricist.

Herbie Hancock - Headhunters
Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior
Tower of Power - Live in NYC
ETA: Pink Floyd - Ummagumma

All opened my ears to music other than rock.
