Where does he rank among living musicians today?

I say top 3 easily, but I'm biased.

Easily the most influential musician in mainstream music today and the fact that he STILL rocks like he does is just unreal.

You could HATE the Beatles and still have to say this.

Clapton is cooler to me. Not better overall, just cooler. That old dude just let himself age well. Guy looks like a cardiologist up there playing. When I am well into my 60's I want to dress like that dude.

I wish Dylan would have aged well. But he, McCartney and Clapton are LEGENDS that today's industry will never produce.

I saw him play for 3 straight hours a month ago. There are young musicians who don't or can't do that on a consistent basis for a tour. AND he still sounded very good, and not just for his age.

He's the best living musician in my eyes, without question.

Saw him at Minute Maid in November

35 tracks...not one track I wish he played. Its as close as I will ever have to a religious experience.

Saw him at Bonnaroo on Friday. Greatest show at Bonnaroo in a long time.

Get the frick out.

Do you know who is still alive?

Dylan
BB King
Keith Richards
Jimmy Page
Neil Young
I could go on for a while before I even sniffed Bono's name.

I haven't commented on the 'you discredit a person's music opinion' thread yet, but you've just put yourself in there for me.

Thread should be Paul McCartney would have turned 71 today if he hasn't died in '69.

If we're counting dead musicians as well, behind Lennon, also top 3
