Unless you are wanting to amass a collection, get one really good guitar. Some of the Norlin era birds and doves are awesome. I’ve always been very drawn to the extreme player grade acoustics.

I ended up buying an alverez masterworks md70bg. It’s the bluegrass dread with spruce top and rosewood back and sides. Very very happy with the guitar. Added a Lr bags anthem sl pickup. Love the way it sounds and plays.

Once I had some time with my Taylor 414, I sold everything but my Gibson J200. I picked up a 214 because I’m too lazy to tune down so I keep that one tuned down. Just my opinion. My friends have taste all over the board. It’s just what you like playing that matters.

My 2006 Mexican Tele delux is as good as my 1974 American Strat.

I could easily see this. I don’t know how they are getting the prices they are for 70’s Fenders. This was their worst period for quality.

Reminds me of cousin Pearl throwin that word around on the Beverly Hillbillies. She heard it in the beauty shop and didn't even know what it meant.

Get a Taylor and don’t look back. 300 series or higher.. everything else I tried was a waste of time. just my opinion.
One day I may spring for a Gibson J200.

I’m going totally satisfied with this alverez for now. In 3 years I’ll be 40 and my wife says she plans to take me on a trip to get my “dream guitar” it will likely be a Gibson.

I played a Squire jazz bass that had a full set up, fret level, and the stock pickups replaced with seymour duncan and it played and sounded as good as my American Ultra Jazz bass. I have 2,500 in that guitar with the plek job vs. his 800 in the squire. I also have a MiM fender P/J that plays better than any American P bass I have ever played. I don't put much stock into where the guitar comes from.

My brother has a PRS electric guitar he paid 6,000 dollars for and recently bought a chinese knock off and he says he rathers the chinese guitar he paid 400 bucks for.

All true. How soon can we just pay our taxes to chyna?
We could cut out the middlemen.

That's great.
Problem with new Gibsons though, they seem pretty crappy at the store.
Set ups seem awful and the tone aint there, it's easy to pick something else.
Bring one home though, play it for a few weeks, let it tighten up, or loosen, whatever really happens with them, that tone and volume starts coming through and it's the best thing you will ever have.
Keep that in mind with Gibsons. If I had to gamble on my choice of a new guitar though, it would be this..
