Bad Company's 1st album is pretty incredible.

Great band !!!

You're right. This album is absolutely overlooked as one of the truly great debut albums. Every track works.

Music is like art, like food, like women -- "Beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder."

That said. You're right. (Blind Melon??)

Love em or hate em, Oasis had a helluva debut with Definitely Maybe.

Just got back from Liam Gallaghers 30th Anniversary of Definitely Maybe show in Manchester this past weekend. One of the best shows I've ever seen for one of the best debut albums ever.

I really don’t get the downvotes here. It’s their best album.

I was watching a Professor of Rock video the other morning and he was talking about the Boston debut album with the original drummer.. so many tracks off that album are classic rock standards. Some of those pieces like Foreplay had their genesis in 1968 a full 8 years before the release. Scholz was a perfectionist and really crafted all those songs almost perfectly IMHO.

Pavement

I always forget that was their debut, since they released quite a bit of material prior to that... good choice!

This should be what folks think about for the topic. If it isn't Boston or Led Zeppelin I, I'm not sure what it would be.

I'd rather listen to either of Blind Melon's albums over and over again before anything GNR, Van Halen, or Boston. And I like those 3 groups, but BM speaks to my soul.

I think S&E is where their sound finally crystallized. Westing (By Musket and Sextant) has some good stuff, but it’s really spotty. My favorite thing that they ever did is the “Watery, Domestic” EP. Then, just like that, Gary Young was gone.

Soup is one of the most underrated albums ever. Because it was such a vast departure from the first album, many people never got into it. But it has defintely stood the test of time and still sounds very fresh today. All time Top 5-10 album for me.
