Nobody can tough Isbell, but I love Colter Wall's music, and he's a solid songwriter.

Alright all of you Isbell haters with the downvotes tell me what songwriter has an album that even comes close to Southeastern. Seriously, if it's out there I want to know about it.

Justin Osborne of the band SUSTO

They are classified as alt-country.

If you haven’t checked them out, it’s worth giving them a listen.

SUSTO - Live - 2018 High Water Festival (2 songs)

ETA - they aren’t big yet, but they’re making waves. Included him in this thread because he’s a very honest songwriter.

I've tried to like her solo stuff, and it just doesn't work for me. New Pornographers only. I do like her discussion of killer whales though.

Southeastern was great. Something More Than Free was great.

But Isbell is slipping. Instead of just writing great songs he’s trying to be woke now.

Moreland’s “High On Tulsa Heat” is every bit as good as Southeastern and criminally under rated.

Big Bad Luv shits all over The Nashville Sound

Therefore as we stand on April 25, 2019....John Moreland is a better songwriter than Jason Isbell.

You named 2 different artists in your post. You cannot assume people downvoted you re Isbell.

Rhett Miller from Old 97s

Random story and a WWYD moment from last month.

Got my wife and I two tickets to Phantom of the Opera in Dallas and we went to a cool restaurant downtown before for dinner and drinks. We were paying the bill and about to head to the musical when all of a sudden 4 dudes walk in with guitars and start setting up right by our table in the corner of the restaurant.

Turns out Rhett Miller was in town and called his band mates and they were doing a secret pop up show at the restaurant. He and the owner are good friends apparently. They were setting up literally 10 feet in front of our table

We just looked at each and said “you’ve got to be shitting me” we debated for 5 minutes on what to do and finally decided to go to the musical. I’m still kicking myself for not staying.

So many out there right now who hardly get any love. Phoebe Bridgers has gone pretty far up my listen in the last year or so.

Kevin Morby is awesome as well and released a new album today.

That would’ve been so cool!....and loud! I was in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl and I missed their Dallas holiday show (in front of a much larger crowd I’m sure).

I think it's a safe assumption. Isbell triggers this board worse than a transgendered person in a Bernie Sanders T-shirt trying to use the bathroom at the court house while they apply for a marriage license.
