Getting my guitar's action lowered in the BR area

The Guitar Center charges 50 dollars. That seems too high. Who else will do a good job without taking a was of cash out of my pocket?

a proper setup from a good luthier is likely going to cost more than $50.
tim's will cost you a minimum of $75 and they'll probably have it more than two weeks after you wait two weeks before they'll start on it.
call holger notzel at riverfront music/komet amps. they're in the same vicinity as tim's. his prices are similar. but he does outstanding work. guitar players from all over america send their guitars & amps to those guys to have them worked on.

Yep, he's good too. I know like Kennedy as he has done work on my tube amps.

So you know, until C&M moves (I hear somewhere on Seigen or thereabouts) the only place south of Fla. is Perfect Guitar on Jones Creek. I've never been.

There is a fella from Denham who built a custom guitar with a Gretsch style body (sort of 5120) and, if I recall, a Gibson style neck. Beautiful work. Saw it used at Live Music and just missed getting it (somebody came in and got it just before me).
If I recall, the luthier's name was Phil Pousson. Know anything about him?

Trying to lower the action to get some of that tasty tasty finger wizard riffage action going on my man?
Posted on 3/30/13 at 9:22 pm to Tigerlaff
I think that's what I am trying to do!
I did not realize how much help it can be to have the action lowered. My daughter's guitar and my nephew's guitar's (he is 19; she is 14) action is much lower. I can play much better and easier on theirs!

C&M has a bad arse sale going on. Don't know how much is left though.

They had a Godin Montreal for less than a grand. Semi hollow, dual humbuckers, piezo in the bridge. You can play acoustic, off the humbuckers or blended.
Absolutely gorgeous guitar, both in looks and sound. I don't want to pay that much for any guitar, but at that price relative to full price (around $1,500), I'm tempted.
