My friend and I are holding a show tomorrow at Culture Bar in BR. Not too far from the Varsity.

Doors at 8, Music from 10-2.

It is going to be a great night. Amazing music for only a 5 dollar cover. I been putting together an awesome set for the past 2 weeks. Hope to see y'all there!

Do you use traktor or serato? Do you sync? What kind of controller do you use? Just curious

I use Traktor software and hardware (s2 mk2).

While I can beatmatch by ear, I do use sync.I can use the time I save crafting a better set for my audience =)

My friends set will include more trance, house, etc. Mine is trap and dub (real hard and filthy dub). Excision the past weekend inspired the last 40 of my set. It is brutal.

Inside the Musician's Studio with James Lipton

Explain a little bit about your method on this song. What inspired you to create this song? Is Capitvaed 1 better than Capitvated 2?

Think of this like a reddit AMA...we're just trying to pick the brain of an artist. Not many post on this board

If you are asking about the mixes, the numbers just indicate the newest ones. I try to do a podcast like show. Half of it is me, the other half is a guest mix by another artist. The first one is by EVO, who is a mid level house producer who tours all across the country. The second is a friend of mine from nola who is a great dj and producer. The third is a mix I made for a competition to play at Buku. I didn't win, however I knew I wouldn't. It is a popularity contest and I don't have the name recognition yet.

I do try to make each mix better than the last.

What is your 'island' album?

What kind of food/drink do you require backstage? Interesting pre-show rituals?

Any crazy fan stories?

BR or NO?

The music board wants to understand you. We just don't want to hear about you performance coming, we want to know you, Captivated. We are a curious bunch here, and we want to know what inspires you as an artiste

Biggest inspiration?

Favorite local artist? (Flowtribe doesn't count)

Biggest crowd you've played for and where?

One drink to take the jitters away. No matter how well you preplan the set, and have every transition down, you still get nervous.

I listen to Lose Yourself by Eminem a few times and not eat any of my moms spaghetti

None yet. Although, if you know any crazy females who will make some, bring them along tomorrow.

BR or NO?

I am in BR, but (possibly) have a show in laffy coming up. Also, I have good friends who put on events in NOLA, mainly Republic, who will hopefully have me on there in the coming months. They bring big artists. I play where there is a gig. Venue size doesn't mean shite. I just want to play good music and get the crowd into it.

There are a lot of producers I admire. Too many to name. Excision and gramatik are up there. Though wildly different styles, they each have a really unique show. Both are extremely talented.

My two friends are very good up and coming producers. Their names are Eduk8, who is playing with me tomorrow, and Klutch. Eduk8 is my producing mentor of sort, and is extremely good at making shite in Ableton. Klutch has a tendency of crafting a set which is so good that it is hard for the headliner to compare

Up to this point they have been pretty small. You have to work your way up the chain. Eventually people will notice. I have only been in this a few months, but have been dreaming about it for years. Dreams come true if you work your arse off to make it happen. I put 24 hours or so of time crafting this set and making it to my liking. I do hopefully have bigger things in the future which I can't talk about yet =)
