I think I've just always been in love with the quirkier glam rock sound as opposed to the faster heavier stuff later on (I know not all of it was heavy)
I also think they lost a little of their niche' at that point, I mean as another thread has pointed out
In 1987 more alternative bands had taken over the airwaves, And it felt like the days of classic rock were dying

Yeah...I guess I can agree with that point. However, I think The Miracle and Innuendo are superior to their A Day at the Races and Hot Space albums.
And what really triggered their downfall in America was the music video to their single, I Want to Break Free. It featured the band dressed up in drag and, as a result, was banned from MTV. They still remained IMMENSELY popular in Europe and South America but their popularity in North America never recovered after '84.

And I do like some of their songs from those albums, I just thought, as a band their desire to be 'Queen' had wained
hence their solo projects
I'll also add that now, in America, they've had an immense rebirth of popularity.
not just from Wayne's World etc...but the fact that people are now able to see how incredible Freddie as well as the group actually were
Could you imagine how many people would go see them perform now and how much they'd payif it was the orginal lineup. The only group that people would pay more for would be the Beatles I would think

Bohemian Rhapsody was chopped up to make it short enough to be played as a hit single on radio. I would have loved to have heard the original version. Anyone know if it exists in any form?

I know I'd pay a lot of money to see Queen if Freddie were still alive. I think had Freddie Mercury still been alive and healthy when Wayne's World came out the band would have had a renaissance in the United States in much the same way Aerosmith had in the late-80s. Queen would probably still be performing with its original lineup to this day.
